Suite 201

It had been a few hours after Amy left them. She had business and Naku had a room to unpack. There wasn't much in his luggage, but he tried to place everything he had. The backpack was hung on the back of his door. He put up purple lights spreading from above his bed to the other side where the desk was. He could plug and unplug them by the desk. He made note to get a power strip when possible. He set a few bools on the desk along with a jar of sand and pebbles. He made sure to put his notebooks there also.

On his bed, he draped a strand of mala beads. He's have to live with the bedding they gave him, but he certainly made note of what he wanted. He hung up Three posters over his bed. Soul, Alternative rock, and R&B were the genres. They looked like they had been folded some times before. Across from the bed on the same side as the door was his closet. He put his clothes away, putting his dresser in there also to make more room. He looked out his window and the empty space beside it, figuring a table would go nicely there. He set his guitar there for now, knowing that he'd need an amp if he wanted to really rock out one day.

Eventually he tucked everything he had away. Especially all the secret items he wasn't trying to have people see. Not that they would care, but... one couldn't be too careful. There was a long thin scroll over his door that said There is no Me without We in fancy cursive. It was hard to tell what it said in the first place. He gave it a tap as he exited, leaving his door open as he carried a couple of mugs.

He looked across the way to room A. Thraxs room was there. Naku hesitated, wondering if he should knock and be friendly, or head right on to the kitchen to put up his stuff. He could of course sneak a peak. He wondered what an Alien would decorate their room with...

At present, Thrax's room lacked any personal touch. Now that he'd decided he was free to be himself on campus, though, he planned to grab a few things from his ship to make the room feel like home. For now, he just hung his few non-alien clothes in his closet and flopped onto his new bed to make sure it was actually comfortable. It was, even if not up to par with the one on his ship.

As Naku observed his door, the big alien stepped out into the common area. Spotting the human, Thrax popped his head in to say hi. "Nice. I'd show you my room but there's nothing to show you yet. I was planning to pretend to be human a little longer so I left most of my stuff in my ship."

Naku moved back to let Thrax have some room to look in more. At the human comment, he withheld a doubtful half. "Do you have a human form?" He crossed his arms, humor still on his features. "Perhaps you mean like an Earthling. A mutant, Earthling. Aliens aren't common place, so at least there shouldn't be anyone suspicious of you," he said before stepping into the hall, closing his door behind him once the Hyena man was out.

"You were headed to the living room? Meet you thereafter I drop these off in the kitchen if you want," he said, gesturing to the mugs he had. one was dark blue Star Trek one that said "Live Long and Prosper" with Spock on it. The other was white with what looked like a Sakura Blossom tree on it, but the petals were pale.

"Mutants are human, though," Thrax responded, perplexed by the odd distinction. He hadn't suddenly become not-Crocutan when his Stormborn powers manifested. A single gene didn't make a new species.

He didn't let his question linger, though. His eyes had been drawn to the pointy-eared character on Naku's mug. "So who's that supposed to be? Somebody famous?" he inquired curiously.

Naku listened to Thrax and offered a correction. "Mutants can be humans, not all humans are mutants. One could say you are a mutated Hynea more than a mutated human. Does that make sense?" he wondered, looking over to the other.

At the question on his mug, he turned it to see Spocks face. "Yeah, kind of. Its Spock from Star Trek. Its an old tv show about going into space. Changed a lot of policies in its time. Helped foster broader thinking that helped break racial boundariesfor instance," he said before chuckling. "You know, back when people were more idiotic thinking a persons skin tone made them a differentspecies.," he said with a shake of his head.

In getting to the kitchen, he paused looking around. "...This it? There'sno stove?" he asked, baffled.

That level of same-species bigotry was so out of his personal experience that he could hardly imagine it. At least, he wouldn't have been able to if not for the sudden collapse of his people's golden age into religious civil war. Even considering that, the days of judging a fellow Crocutan by coloring were long gone.

"You'll have to show this Star Trek sometime," Thrax commented with interest. "And whatever other pieces of Earth culture you can recommend. What I have seen isn't even a grain of sand."

Following Naku's baffled observation, he said, "I guess that's what the big communal kitchen is for. They must not expect many students to be likely to cook for themselves. I mean, I can but I usually just rehydrate and heat up something premade. Not that I would know how to make anything with Earth ingredients."

Naku gave a grin at Thrax asking to be shown more Earth culture. "I'll be sure you get to experience the finer things of life. In addition to Star Trek, there's Star Wars, Firefly, Battlestar Galactica.... lots of stories about space being the final frontier. I'm sure you'll like at least one," he said as he explored the tiny kitchen. There seemed to be enough room for an electric kettle at least.

He listened as the other spoke about making food. "I must have missed when the kitchen was shown. I'll look at that later. Warming up and rehydrating things is fine, but.... somethings an old fashion meal is best. I'll help you with ingredients, too. We can go grocery shopping one day," he suggested before looking back to Thrax. "I wont push you, but if there's anything you want to share about your culture, I'd be all ears as well."

"I'd like that," he grinned. "I can even show you some media from my world. It, uh, won't be in English though, so you probably wouldn't get much out of it."

He tapped his chin in thought. "... unless I rig up my ship's autotranslator to my holoprojector..."

"Of course, you'd have to get hangar clearance first," he added, "So that might be a while."

He abruptly changed topic. "I'm sure I'll love anything you cook. A picky eater, I am not! Seriously, my parents called me their little rizaghk... Err, it's a small animal that eats practically anything it can get its paws on. I'm still a little sensitive about the 'little' part, though."

"Because I'm actually short for my people. I love that I'm tall here." He grinned again.

Naku made his way to the small living good they had as he listened. There were four chairs in each corner and a TV on one of the walls. There was a large window, but it wasn't much. One thing stood out to him as the other spoke. "You, small?" he asked, pointedly looking all the way up at the other. He gave a grin. "Yeah, I bet you do like it. Doubt there are any regular humans your height, unless they play basketball. Thats a game a lot of tall people play. Shorter people can to, but.... height gets you a solid advantage," he said before taking a seat.

"There are more of your kind here, on the ship? Where the heck is it even sitting?" he wondered, surely thinking a ship would be spotted. It must be cloaked, or in a secret location. "Think you mentioned it before. Does anyone else come off the ship or just you?" he wondered.

"I wouldnt mind making something if I do get clearnace. They can try one of my familiesrecipes. Not sure how much you'd like American food. Perhaps I canmake something that you actually like, not that you just inhale for the sake of it," he said with a chuckle before pausing. "Wanna go check out the rest of the floor after a bit?"

At mention of others having traveled with him, he lost a little of his cheer. "No. It's a personal craft I won in a card game. That's why I have hangar access. I... haven't even seen one of my people since I left home."

Nakedly eager to steer to conversation away from how sad that sounded, he jumped on the next question. "Sounds fun!" he said with a grin. "It shouldn't surprise you that my tastes are firmly carnivorous. I can digest plant matter fine, though, so no worries there. Actually, most of the meat on Leucrotta is synthetic, so having the real thing is always great."

He caught the sadness within his suite mate and the eagerness to change topics. As such, Naku didn't return to it. Instead, he let himself mimic the high emotions of the others a bit. His face scrunched up at the idea of synthetic meat. "Hard agree. Nothing's like the real thing. I'll make a roast or something for you. Two, one your you, one for the rest of us, if the ovens big enough," he said wishfully, eyes going to the main door. "I really hope it doesn't disappoint," he said, wondering how he might be able to woo a certain someone with his cooking skills.

Then again, would she think him weird for cooking? Would that be too much? Would she hate what he made? She wasn't European, but American... still, she was of European descent. Could she handle spice? Was he being racist? Absently, Naku shook his head. He was getting way ahead of himself.

He looked over to Thrax with a question in his eye. Should he ask him if the buildings were co-ed? Nah. He shifted to standing, giving a non-chalet stretch. "Actually, let's check out the big kitchen now. Don't want to get my hopes up too much," he said honestly, though it was certainly about multiple things.

"Sure. I could use a snack anyway."

The big guy led the way out of the suite and to the corner of the floor containing the common area and kitchen. "Not bad... he said, having never seen Earthling cooking equipment." As he spoke, he began rummaging through the kitchen cabinets for anything edible without someone's name on it; he wasn't a savage.

"Ooh! This could be good!" he exclaimed with a grin as he held up a bag of prawn cocktail potato crisps.

The kitchen wasn't entirely empty when the two arrived. A pot was boiling on the stove, and a green-haired boy had come back in to check on it. The smell was meaty and tomato-y and spicy, and probably hot -- maybe too hot for someone to stick their hand in to test it. And yet, that's what the green-haired one did, apparently plunging a finger straight into the pot. When it came out, the finger had been replaced by a small wooden spoon, apparently growing out of the boy's hand, as he tasted whatever it was that was bubbling away.

Naku had ulterior motives for coming out: he wanted to know if the floor was co-ed. He didn't see not a soul yet as they wandered. It was strange. Then again, it was early. People were probably in class or at work. It was then that he realized they were not alone, but when Thrax opened the chips, it took a moment for Naku to realize. "Wai-! Ah... that could be somebodys. People should only eat what they themselves bring in," he said as he approached the massive being and the chips.

For a moment, Naku thought of getting sme for himself, but he thought against it. He instead decided to focus on the new person with them. Briefly his clocked the common area with a TV, library and seats along a big window. "Hey there. You're from this floor I take it?" he said awkwardly.

There were strange things Naku has heard before. Change of gender wasn't one of them. He approached closer, curious as to what was in the pot, but not too close to be bothersome he hoped.

"Im familiar with the X-Men a bit. Impressive that you were and are in charge. What does it take to be an X-men anyways? Cooking skills are a bonus I take it?" he jested. The food he made did smell good.

"You joining anytime soon? You've been here long enough to know the branch out here," he ventured. He was likely wrong, but Thrax did know them more than he himself.

A concern that he was being too pushy came over him and Naku took a lax step back along with a harmless smile. "Don't mind the twenty questions. First day here. Lots to learn. Certainly a shocker if the X-Men are all college students," he said knowing full well not all of them might be.

He grinned. "Sounds like a lot of fun despite being serious business, I'm just not there yet."

But that was dishonest. The truth was that he was afraid of committing to a cause again. If he put his heart and soul into something only for it to be destroyed again, he didn't think he'd ever recover.

"Well, that's just over here, y'know. Xaviers University; kind of in the name. But the original X-Men? Remember, they were students too. Jean Grey was just 11 when she arrived at Charles Xavier's mansion. So, if anything, we're older and more mature.

...And possibly more inclined to make terrible decisions, but I'm reliably informed that's a key aspect of the college experience," Will chuckled, before giving the chili another stir.

"Honestly the only real requirement is that you stay in the good graces of whoever's in charge. Right now, that means Ms. Minamida, the headmistress, and Ms. Kinney the, uh, athletics instructor. Get on their bad side and they'll check you back into place so hard you'll be seeing sideways for a week. But stay in their good graces, and you'll be surprised what you can get away with."

Will tasted the chili, smacking his lips for a moment. "Needs more lime. One second..." he said, heading off down the hallway...

...just as an apparently identical green haired boy (a twin?) came up the stairs. "Oh, hey Thrax, didn't expect to see you out and about in the dorms. Who's your friend?"

He opted to meander the living space instead of hover around the chef. When he did move away, another one appeared much like the cook himself. Naku tilted his head back to see the other properly, glancing back to Will a moment. "Names Naku. You're related to Will, I take it?"

There was a load of confusion Naku quickly was getting through until food was mentioned. He looked at the larger Hyena man. "Please don't end up in the next pot," he said pointedly. There was some dry humor to it, but the sentiment was honest. Naku wasn't about consuming friends.

He turned to second Will, comfortable with the idea that if he spoke to one, the other would also be addressed. "So how do you work? Do you clone yourself? Id there an original running around somewhere, or have you lost track of who that is?" he wondered, curious.

He would give a glance to Thrax in case he knew something also.

"Eh, I'm a bit complicated," Will laughed, rubbing the back of his head. "The, erm. 'Original', I guess you'd say, stays in our dorm, safe and sound. And then individual, erm, copies of me can go out and do things -- go to class, work in the labs, run my bakery, other...things...and then when we return, we'll sort of synch back up and learn what everyone else did. It's an ingenious way of multitasking."

Will was clearly not going into extensive detail about any of this -- this was fairly clearly the sanitized, one-sentence version of a story he'd told a hundred times before. He didn't appear dismissive or evasive, just...abbreviated.

"And yeah, my relationship to mass is a bit estranged at the moment," Will said to Thrax, chuckling at a private joke. "But to be fair, it started it."

Shifting to lean against the back of a couch, he spoke up. "Smart, Main staying safe. Being made of clay, there something we should avoid doing around you? Like spraying water?"

He looked over to Thrax, shifting between the big man and little green. "Are you both aliens, or..." he wondered, now having to think that aliens exist made him question.

"I'm a little tougher than I look," Will grinned. "Don't worry about me, I can take...quite a bit of punishment."

"He's from another dimension, so... yes and no," Thrax explained. "They've got all kinds here, I've discovered. Even another alien named Shari. I didn't think her species did friendly, but she's nice enough."

"She's also a polymorph who's naturally green. That's not confusing at all," he laughed.

"Yeah, but between you, me and the fencepost, she's a B- shapeshifter, at best," Will whispered, conspiratorially.

Which is when Will (uh...the first Will? Will prime?) came back, having sourced some limes. "I'm back and...there seems to be several more people in the room," he said, blinking.

"Just you, Thrax, and I," Naku said with a bit of a grin. He glanced to the two Wills, but then also glanced around in case he missed another one sneaking up. "Have to thank you in advance for the food. Nothing like a home made meal first thing after landing," he said gratefully.

When he looked to Trax, he considered a few things. "So you've been here 'bout a week. Will's been here... a lot longer. There anything y'all ever want to experience on Earth? Or something from home you wish you could experience here?" He paused, glancing back to Thrax. "Not to make you home sick, just wondering if there's something similar you can do while you're here."

Thrax laughed. "Oh, I'm greedy. I want to experience everything this world has to offer. I've never been bombarded by this many new experiences in my life. I can always visit my ship if I need a taste of home."

"Hmm... maybe with the right ingredients I could make something close to Crocutan food..." he thought aloud, "I'm no chef, though."

"Well, what does Crocutan food taste like? What do you use, what kind of stuff is it?" one Will asked.

"Yeah. From my understanding, one of the reasons Earth is special, out there in the galaxy, is the variety of our culture -- we're not just some Cowboy planet or something; we've got more variety than most. So maybe we can find something similar?"

"I'm sure we'll figure it out," Naku said, looking around to see what the sitting situation looked like for food. "There's plenty to do around the world, and lots to see in Europe. First time here. If I go exploring any place, I'll let ya know," he offered to Thrax.

He gave a look between the two Wills. "So... just to be sure, can we each get a bowl of that? Can pay you back with another meal if you'd like. Limited on what I'm workin' with cash wise," he said a bit dejected. "I don't even want to think about a part time job yet. Hopefully course work isn't too heavy.... Say, what are you all taking?" He asked, shifting the convo to something more light hearted.
