Sept. 9th: Well, This Is Awkward

[Sofia Santiago]

"Well, what you think is fun will help many people, yeah?" Sofia says.

[Nailah Weaver]

"That's the idea! Making the world a better place and all that, with sweet kung-fu moves!" she says and does an actually pretty impressive air-kick, wings and tail almost automatically moving to give her the right balance and letting her hold it for a couple seconds.

[Sofia Santiago]

Sofia claps, "Nice! You are a regular JeeJa Yanin."

[Nailah Weaver]

"Thanks!" she says, then after a short pause adds, "Who's that?"

[Sofia Santiago]

"She is a movie star. She was in Chocolat," Sofia says.

[Nailah Weaver]

"Ooh, well now I gotta watch that."

[Sofia Santiago]

"It is very entertaining," Sofia says. "I think you would enjoy it."

[Nailah Weaver]

"And in the meantime I'll just assume that was a very nice compliment." she grins. "Is she a martial arts actor? Her name sounds kinda Asian."

[Sofia Santiago]

"Yes. She is from Thailand and is a 3rd Dan Black Belt in Taekwondo," Sofia says. "She was also in Raging Phoenix."

[Nailah Weaver]

"That is a way better movie title." she says, doing some more, less show-offy martial arts moves. "Hmm... You think people would care about a movie night in the common room?"

[Sofia Santiago]

"I would be interested," Sofia says, smiling. "And Regan likes most movies."

[Nailah Weaver]

"Oh man, you think she would be up for scaring people? We could watch a scary movie and ask her to be all spooky!"

[Sofia Santiago]

"It wouldn't hurt to ask," Sofia says.

[Nailah Weaver]

"Man, I can't believe there's an actual ghost around here. That's so crazy!" she says in a way that suggests she considers 'crazy' a positive attribute in this case.

[Sofia Santiago]

"There's probably more than one," Sofia says. "There are a lot more spirits than people think. A lot of them just aren't able to manifest in any way you could tell they're around."

[Nailah Weaver]

"But those are the interesting ones, yeah? Cause they're people still, not just... what's left of people. Do you... do you know what happens when you die? Like, the ones that don't stick around, where do they go?"

[Sofia Santiago]

Sofia shrugs, "I don't know. Somewhere?"

"If you're looking for answers on the afterlife, I don't got any good ones."

[Nailah Weaver]

"Hmm. Too bad. But I guess they gotta go somewhere and that's kind of an answer, yeah?" she smiles.

[Sofia Santiago]

"Sure," Sofia says. "Unless they're absorbed back into some sort of endless void, facing oblivion as the last bit of their psychic expression fades from the world."

[Nailah Weaver]

"Now that just sounds depressing."

[Sofia Santiago]

"Sorry," Sofia smiles. "I think a lot about this stuff, obviously."

[Nailah Weaver]

"No, it's alright. I asked. But the fact that someone like Regan exists at least means we're not just bags of meat and nothing else."

[Sofia Santiago]

"I suppose that could be encouraging," Sofia says.

[Nailah Weaver]

"Sure it is! Means we got a soul or something like that. Or just ectoplasmic goo but I guess it doesn't matter what it's made of."

[Sofia Santiago]

"Some people can find that idea scary," Sofia says. "I mean, if that's true, what does it mean? Is there a Heaven? Hell?'

[Nailah Weaver]

"I dunno. That probably depends on whether you like making out with skeleton-faced ladies." she grins.

[Sofia Santiago]

"I am generally in favor of it," Sofia says with a giggle.

[Nailah Weaver]

"So, what else do you do for fun when you're not making out with the air?"

[Sofia Santiago]

"I watch movies, mostly," Sofia says. "I love bad movies."

[Nailah Weaver]

"Oh like Sharknado and all that?"

[Sofia Santiago]

Sofia snorts, "No. That is just trash. A real bad movie has heart. Someone loved making it. None of this Syfy channel nonsense."

[Nailah Weaver]

"Bad but not trash. Got it." she says, looking like she doesn't get it at all.

[Sofia Santiago]

"Have you ever seen House?" Sofia asks. "Ridiculous movie. Japanese horror about a haunted house. It's very silly, but it is also inventive and imaginative. The people who made it believed in what they were making. They did not try to make a bad movie. They failed at making a good movie, despite trying as hard as they could."

[Nailah Weaver]

"I don't think I have. Maybe we should have that be the first movie we'll have on in the Common Room Theater."

[Sofia Santiago]

"That would be fantastic," Sofia says excitedly. "I will bring my copy."

[Nailah Weaver]

"Awesome! I'll see about getting the word out and inviting people then!"

[Sofia Santiago]

"And I will try to convince Regan to come," Sofia says.

[Nailah Weaver]

"That'd be great. She could spook people at just the right times and everything."
