Lost and Found

[Thraxion Ord'Rakar]

Thrax found his words. It wasn't like him to hesitate or even consider pretending to be anything other than what he was.

He gave a quick, respectful bow like that he would give his master at the monastery. "Greetings, fair headmistress! I am Thraxion Ord'Rakar, an unlucky visitor upon the shore of your planet and I am in dire need of your technological assistance."

[Ashlie Minamida]

"Excuse me what?" she blinks at the two. "Is this a joke? I really don't have time for this kind of thing right now, Will."

[Thraxion Ord'Rakar]

"Who's Will?" He blinked. "Nevermind. I can prove it!"

"I mean, you can check my DNA if you want, but it'd be faster to let you take a look at this," he said, taking his decidedly sci-fi musical instrument off his back. Pressing a button caused "strings" of hard light to run up its long neck. He plucked one, creating a sound not unlike a terrestrial electric guitar.

"Eh? That enough for ya?" He grinned as if expecting her mind to be blown. He couldn't possibly know they have a Shiar holo-array handy.

[Ashlie Minamida]

"I'll admit that using hard-light technology for entertainment implies you're telling me the truth. But it begs the question of what you could possibly need from me? The last piece of alien technology I had my hands on admittedly eluded my understanding."

[Thraxion Ord'Rakar]

"I... uhh... Well..." Thrax rubbed his neck sheepishly, embarrassed. "I kinda sorta... crashed. And the parts I need don't seem to exist here and then I saw your portal thingy and I thought maybe you could help somehow."

[Ashlie Minamida]

"Please tell me you didn't just leave advanced technology stuck in some random British hillside..."

[Thraxion Ord'Rakar]

"No! I'm not an idiot." Thrax responded slightly defensively, though he immediately got over it.

"Okay, so more of a rough emergency landing. I had just enough time to land in a small forest. And nobody is getting inside unless they happen to have a Gift that can bypass the biometrics. So, for now it should be safe. I was hoping to fix it myself before anyone found it but I'm no engineer, I can't build the parts."

[Ashlie Minamida]

"Well, accessible or not, if the wrong people come across it... The only contact with aliens we've had is with Skrulls and even that knowledge is fairly contained."

"And while I consider myself an extremely capable engineer, I can't promise you I'd be able to fix whatever is wrong, even if I had the time to. And believe me, I would love to take a look at your ship. Just not until another situation has been resolved. What I can do is contact the right people to try and have it moved to a secure location for now. How large a ship are we talking? Dimensions, tonnage?"

[Thraxion Ord'Rakar]

"I would really appreciate that. As long as I can still get to my stuff, that is. I'm trusting you not to pull a fast one because what better choice do I have? Right?" He chuckled uncomfortably but continued on to give her the specs of his ship, using his wrist device to convert the measurements into metric. It turned out that it was just a little bit bigger than the Blackbird, if noticeably heavier. Moving it might prove a challenge, but it was nothing X-Corp couldn't handle.

[Ashlie Minamida]

"We have an underground hangar and workshop, though considering how much sensitive equipment is in the Point I'd ask you only enter when accompanied by someone. Moving it will be tricky, especially doing so covertly. It's a little too heavy to airlift..."

[Mooncalf]

Moonie, who had gotten bored of the conversation pretty quickly and wandered off to climb on top of the Point's entrance perks up. "Oh! Oh, I can help with that!" she shouts and wriggles out of her backpack to hold it in front of herself and topple off the good 5 meter drop from above the door. Instead of plummeting though her backpack seems to has been made to be lighter than air and she just slowly descends while bobbing and swinging through the air. She lands, holding on to the backpack by one strap like a balloon. "Can I help!?"

[Thraxion Ord'Rakar]

"And fate provides," he laughed, grinning. "I knew I ran into you for a reason."

To Ashlie, he said, "Well? Do you think she would be of help?"

[Ashlie Minamida]

"If she can do that to an entire vehicle. Or at least the heaviest component. Who are you anyway?" Ashlie asks, eyeing Mooncalf a bit suspiciously. She knows a dragoman is a historic translator and facilitator and something about that feels like it's hitting too close to her own recent realizations to be coincidental.

[Mooncalf]

"[Moving Company] Moonie at your service, ma'am!" she mock-salutes.

[Thraxion Ord'Rakar]

"I know about as much about her as you do now." Thrax shrugged. "Name, floaty powers, a positive attitude, and an uncanny ability to give eerily accurate nicknames to people at a glance."

"Just guessing. I haven't a clue what Dragoman is. Mine was spooky though.

[Ashlie Minamida]

"It's... accurate enough." Ashlie admits.

"'Course it is!" Moonie helpfully chirps from the sidelines.

"It will take me a couple days to set things up." Ashlie does her best to ignore the one-woman peanut gallery. "Get a freight helicopter sorted and prepare a contingency in case 'floaty powers' aren't sufficient or reliable enough."

[Thraxion Ord'Rakar]

"Great!" he exclaimed happily.

"So... uhh... what should I do while you prepare? Should I watch over my ship just in case or is there somewhere I could crash? I will need something while you're working, of course."

[Ashlie Minamida]

"We recently opened public housing on this side of the portal. Generally we give preference to mutant refugees, but considering the circumstances I think we can make an exception.*

[Thraxion Ord'Rakar]

"That works!" Thrax responded with enthusiasm. "And for what it's worth, I am my species' equivalent of a Mutant. Of course, Stormborn Crocutans are treated much better by society."

At least, until a few years ago. He didn't know how the new regime was treating the ones who avoided the purge. But these people didn't need to be burdened with his baggage. With any luck, he'd be gone before any bounty hunters came sniffing around.

[Ashlie Minamida]

"Mutant or not, we try to welcome anybody dealing with extraordinary circumstances. Does your friend over there have a name?"

[Thraxion Ord'Rakar]

"Calls herself Mooncalf."

"Pretty sure she doesn't have anywhere else to go either. Not that she can remember, anyway," he explained.

[Ashlie Minamida]

"And you didn't think to... Right, alien. Have her check her bag for a wallet with an ID, credit card, phone that kind of thing. With her legal name I might be able to find some information, if she wants it."

[Thraxion Ord'Rakar]

"Oh! You keep more than paper currency in those!" he exclaimed, as if it made some things make more sense. "I have everything on this wrist computer."

He called to Mooncalf, "Hey Moonie! Check that bag of yours for a wallet or a phone, which I assume is a communication device! Maybe you'll find a second name for yourself!"

[Ashlie Minamida]

"If you don't mind, I have work to do. Housing by the portal has been informed and should have a room for you within the hour." she says as she catches Moonie upend her backpack and empty it onto the lawn.

[Thraxion Ord'Rakar]

When did she...?

"Of course." Thrax gave another slight bow of respect and turned to walk over to Moonie.

He squatted by her and studied the items on the grass with intense curiosity. "Any luck with finding your identification?"

[Mooncalf]

There's all kinds of stuff that has clattered to the ground. A comfier pair of shoes, a change of clothes, some extra socks, a jacket. So far so boring. Travelling supplies. Then there's some kind of head-mounted camera, a flat rectangular device that's all screen, a collection of candy bars, a small plastic tube with rolled up dollar bills inside, two reusable water bottles, a primitive multi-tool, a hat, a small box of basic medical supplies, a fake-leather etui of some kind that disgorges a bunch of plastic cards. Overall it looks a lot like what would be in a survival/emergency kit, just worse and taking up more space.

"Yes! My name is Snickers!" she says, holding up one of the candy bars. Meanwhile the plastic cards go ignored despite the fact they all say 'Emmie Potts' on them somewhere and at least one has a picture of her as well.

[Thraxion Ord'Rakar]

The big guy barked a laugh. "Pretty sure that's some kind of food bar, Moonie."

He picked up one of the plastic cards and looked it over. "Look here; it says your name is..." he said, making sure to pronounce it carefully, "Em-me Potts."

[Mooncalf]

"M. E. Potts? Boooring. That's not a good name. What else is on these?" she asks, grabbing some of the cards and flipping them over, reading through them.

"Numbers, numbers. What's a Mass-achoo-sets? Ooh, I'm an organ donor! S'that mean I can spare some of these fluid-filled sacks?" she wonders, poking at her own stomach.

[Thraxion Ord'Rakar]

"I don't know human anatomy but I doubt your organs are optional," Thrax answered with a chuckle.

"Unless your powers include digestion without guts! Do they?"

[Mooncalf]

"Nope! Only works on non-body things. I'm not even a little related to Shaper Dominant, duh." she says, then drops into a conspiratorial stage whisper. "They're kinda gross."

[Thraxion Ord'Rakar]

Thrax leaned in to similarly whisper, "I don't know who that is."

Louder, he said, "But I'm guessing a shapechanger. From the context."

Even louder: "I should meet them! Everyone is a little gross sometimes! I bet they aren't that bad."

[Mooncalf]

"Oh, no that's Bouba. They're great! Shaper D is the Chirurgeon." she shudders. "I mean, they can be alright but... oof."

[Thraxion Ord'Rakar]

He gave her a perplexed expression. "Chirurgeon? I don't know what that means. I may be able to understand most of your language but I don't quite know every word."

[Mooncalf]

"It's..." She frowns as if she has to think hard about this. "Gah, how does it summarize better? It's many things and it differs but the [Idea] stays the same. They change others, but not like shapechangers. They use tools, knives and saws and drills and light and electricity and rework the meat by force."

[Thraxion Ord'Rakar]

"Oh! You mean a fleshshaper!" he exclaimed. "Sometimes a doctor, sometimes someone with a Gift, but always someone who can change somebody's appearance."

"Lots of people out there have body mods. I don't personally get it but if it makes them happy, more power to 'em."

[Mooncalf]

"That sounds right, yeah... Anyway! No organ manipulating for me, which clearly means this card is wrong." she concludes.

[Thraxion Ord'Rakar]

"Or, maybe, like, when your dead someone gets to harvest them? I don't think you guys have the tech yet to just grow replacement organs."

He chuckled to himself. "What are the odds I'd run into someone who might just know even less about being human than a literal space alien?"
